How do you get your mojo back after you've lost it?

Nov 07, 2021

We all have times where we lose our mojo or our confidence. Self doubt can creep in when we least expect it. We are drivers, entrepreneurs, leaders in our businesses and our homes, community developers, parents and teachers. We live full demanding lives during a time in our history like no other. We are warriors on a daily basis, juggling multiple priorities and doing it with grace and a smile - on most days. But sometimes, life can be tough and throw us a curve ball. We can be made to feel like we have lost a little of our magic along the way. So when this happens, which it will from time to time, how can we get it back, get back on track and start powering through again?

Our mojo is our own source of inner power. The definition of mojo is magic or charm. We need our mojo to make great things happen in our life, our business and in our relationships. Our mojo is our source of confidence that determines our inner belief in our own abilities. When life wears away at that belief we can lose our sense of power and we start to question ourselves and poke holes in our goals and plans. We talk ourselves out of the very things we want most all because we have a temporary lapse in self confidence.

How Stella or Whoever Got Her Mojo Back

  1. Start where you are. Don't get too far ahead of yourself or you might make yourself feel anxious. And don't dwell too much in the past either because that will might leave you feeling like you've missed something. Instead take stock of where you are right now at this moment today. Acknowledge where you are right now and celebrate how well you are doing because you are doing really well. Probably much better than you will admit to yourself. When you start feeling overwhelmed it is important to recognize what you can and can not control. Focsuing all of your time and energy on what is out of your control will certainly rob you of your mojo! You don't have to change the entire world. Instead focus on one thing at a time and do that one thing really well. That will make you feel like you can do the next thing really well. And then the next thing...

  2. Focus on what you get to do, not on what you have to do. This is a mindset based on gratitude. Shifting your focus on what your opportunities and privileges are will change your perspective and your life. Telling ourselves all of the things we "have to do" can get tiresome. "I have to clean my house" "I have to take the kids to practice" "I have to get more clients" "I have to go to work today" We act as if we don't have a choice. You always have a choice. You just need to accept what comes as a result of those choices! You don't have to go to work, you get to go to work and make a living to create the life you want. You get to go to work and make an impact in your company, environment or on your team. You don't have to get more clients you get to grow your business. You get to enjoy having a family and beign blessed with active healthy children. We always have a choice in how we see things and how we live our life. Sure there will be tough times in life and a lot to deal with and yet we can always find someone who has it tougher than we do. Whatever we seek we will find. So look for the joy in things and appreciate what you get to do.

  3. Change the way you look at things. Nothing will bring your mojo back faster than a shift in perspective. When you change the way you look at things the things you look at change. Our perception of the world is our reality. Therefore you can change it at any time. When you feel like you've lost your confidence and your inner magic how can you change the way you look at things? We have unlimited capacity to influence our own thinking and reshape our actions so we can get different results. We are never without power or choice. All we need is a minor shift in focus. The energy that surrounds all of us is intention. We have the ability to connect to this energy and step into a flow of universal opportunity. There is abundance all around us if we look for it. 4. Just say no to the negativity. Negativity sucks the air out of a room and the joy right out of life. When things are going wrong and you find yourself feeling challenged, a negative attitude is an understandable development. From there, it's a short jump to engaging in destructive behavior and spending time with people who fuel your negativity and cynicism, and things can quickly spiral out of control. If you are serious about getting back on track you have to stay away from negative thinking, negative people and negative circumstances. Surround yourself with positivity and encouragement.

  4. Watch your self talk. Whatever you tell yourself will always be true so watch your thoughts because your thoughts become your words and your actions. Awareness is the first step to changing your negaitve self talk into something much more encouraging and empowering. Nothing will zap your energy, steal your joy and mangle your mojo faster than talking to yourself in a way that no one would admit to. It is time to transform your image of yourself into the truth of who you are and the amazing capable human being you were designed to be.

  5. Ask for help. Don't go it alone! If you are feeling overwhelmed, negative or at a loss for what the next step is in anything you set out to do - ask for help! Seek out people who have done what you are trying to do and ask them for ways to move forward. We all have had moments of doubt or insecurity, that is normal. However, we don't need to sit in it for too long. Find people who can lift you and inspire you so you can get back to making the magic happen.
